Chaos

Its May, so this is our last month of the school year. This translates into considerable chaos until I finally send the little "darlings" home for the summer.

I made quite an impression on the parents of the future Fall kindergarteners. My principal took the kids and parents on a tour Tuesday. This was scheduled to occur during my class that has a lot of emotionally unstable kids. So... around 9:10 the door of my classroom opens with parents, kids, and the principal peeking in. He states quite boisterously "This is where the kindergarteners come for art. They have a good time and get to experience other things they wouldn't in their classrooms.".... Let me paint a picture of what these parents witnessed while the principal was doing his little speech.

I had one child rolling on the floor and grabbing onto the leg of the table, while repeatedly saying he "hated himself" loudly. A second child was throwing crayons for which I was sprinting to grab from him and promptly lecture. A third child decided to walk infront of the door and walk in a circle moaning in pain as if he was a mental patient. The rest of them were hanging off their chairs and doing gosh knows what else.

"This is where the kids have a lot of fun?" Yeah, welcome to ART! Your kids will have a full forty minutes of crying, tantrum throwing, and complete chaos.

Why didn't that man close that door after the crazy one started to circle?

Needless to say, I was completely embarassed. These parents must think I'm completely looney tunes. I'm sure they feel so "comfortable" now leaving their kid in the hands of a complete nutcase. "Joy".

16 more days.
