Yesterday, we packed up early to head out to Falcon for the day. It was the 2nd bi-annual (or maybe even tri-annual?) Shearer family reunion. It seemed to be a smaller group this time, but some new faces too. My cousin, once-removed Ed, and his girlfriend Paula from the U.K. were there. I haven't seen Ed in probably twenty years (and it amazes me that I've been alive long enough to both remember that, and be able to say that). Paula was a lovely lady-- very polite, with a gorgeous Irish accent.
Cousins (also once-removed) Cameron and Neil were also there again. Neil game sporting a Saskatchewan Roughriders t-shirt and rub on tattoo on his face, so naturally, we exchanged football barbs most of the evening. At one point, Neil was showing the kids his dentures as a lesson about oral hygene, to which I yelled out the window, "Wow, he really IS a Roughrider fan!" Ba-dum-bum!!

The day was gorgeous. I made cupcakes, which is sorta becoming the norm for family get togethers. This time, white cake with lemon and raspberry buttercreams, and also some French Toast cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. Yum. They went over well, but I'll probably skip out on the raspberry ones next time. They just didn't do it for me.

A lot of my second cousins didn't show up this time. Ali's got a pretty good excuse, being in Korea and all, but Amy and the boys didn't show, which I was suprised at. Hm.

As always, I was the only Hiebert child representing (with my family).

A very nice day.
