I believe in fate, that certain things are meant to happen in everybody's lives. But I think that free-will can change you life. Basically, every action has a reaction. :-/ If you choose to go down YOUR path, then your life will go 'according to plan', if you choose not to, then you must suffer the consequences... :-./
