(no subject)
So, I do have a bit of news: I might be transfering to Rhodes next year!
I'm sure most of you know that for so long I've wanted to go study there, but it seemed impossible. I was awarded a scholarship to study this year, but registering somewhere else voided that and screwed me over.
At that point I was totally disillusioned and thought that becomming a doctor was what I wanted- big mistake, of course. Then I spent the next six months wandering around limbo... and now I have a second chance.
My dad's been liasing with the admin and we found out that by writing a motivational letter I might be able to get my scholarship back. Of course, it does help that my parents want to get rid of me a bit...
So I was at the Jo'burg office today to try and sort it. Hopefully I can get the money and get far away from my family. The lady at the office today even commented that I "look like a Rhodes student".
Obviously, this comes at a time when I'm not entirely sure I want to leave. I don't like doing relationship-talk in my LJ, so, erhm, just know it is one of the reasons. Of course, having Leo knowing about my LJ makes me less likely to voice opinions. :P Asides from that, I'm really happy with my new friends and quite excited about my course.
Then again, I can always enter Publishing in Postgrad... and Cathleen is coming to Rhodes, too...
Anyway, I just have the major favour to ask of current Rhodes students: Residence advice! Please help me figure out where to fit in! Also, any helpful tips of Rhodes live/applications etc would be duly appreciated!
