This new place felt less like an institution and more like a very small boarding school. The rooms were larger, set up like dorms, and they even had a bathroom between them. There were windows and hallways, different sorts of rooms she could peek into, and there was mention of some sort of cafeteria. This was not at all like where they once were. This was an actual working facility. Disturbingly, though, there was no sign of staff other than the voice that came from the intercom. It gave her the creeps. The second the doors opened, she had rushed out of her cell, and had yet to run into a soul there. Jinx was searching for Reeve.
Quietly walking the halls on her several inch platform shoes, she did not dare call out a name. She still had no idea what was out there. For all they knew, this was just another trap. This place did not feel safe, but she also could not feel danger lurking around every corner. Jinx was unnerved, but her hackles were not up. Thank god. She had spent the past hour fixing her hair in the bathroom, only to leave it just the way it was, long and wavy down her back. She was in her original dress and tights, not a single seam out of place, collar nicely set on her neck. It was as though she was first plucked from her world, but devoid of hair gel. And... she felt older. She had been through so much. And she had cried for the first time in years because of all this, the mindfuck, and her electroshock therapy.
No, it was time to think of other things for now. Pay attention to what was ahead of her, and what she saw around the corner.
She would recognize that hair anywhere. The first person she found at this new institution was Zack, wandering around the halls just like she was. And the best thing? He had not seemed to notice she was there yet. The first and last time he saw her, she was horribly ill, maimed, a shell of her former glory, broken and beaten. He had to treat her like an invalid at times with having to bandage her, trying to make her eat. he always knew how to make her smile, but she still had the feeling that she was weak in his mind. Now was the time to prove that wrong.
Grin spreading across her face, she dashed forward, and without warning, jumped right on Zack's back. Not only that, she had her hands so firmly set on him that she pulled herself up in that instant, resting her knees on his shoulders and folding her hands atop his head. Leaning over him, very poised despite her precarious position, she brought her head over his and moved to look at him upside down. Her fuchsia hair was a curtain hanging down, and she grinned even wider, looking him directly in the eyes. "Didn't see that coming, did you soldier boy?" Rather satisfied on her perch, she kissed him right on the cowlick. "A little slow today?" And suddenly, her spirits were lifted.
