Minor reason why I'm glad I went with a (mostly) natural birth: Epidurals (per TheNest.com) generally run around $1000; my stadol was only $150. Granted, all of this is before the insurance kicks in, but still. We're probably going to owe the hospital around $600, but considering the total before the insurance kicked in was around $8,000, that's ( Read more... )

I'm sure the two kids at once and being there for four days are big factors, but we owed close to 2k for just me after insurance.

I'm a wussy for pain but I have got to think that there is some strong crazy magic going on in that syringe (and the training it takes to properly administer it)

It took the edge off, and although it still definitey still hurt, it made me not care that it hurt. And it wore off in time to push, so I was able to feel everything, which I wanted.

Honestly? I can't imagine giving birth to my kid and *not* feeling it at all. It'd make me feel like I was a hat and the doctor/magician was pulling a bunny/kid out of me. But, to each their own.
