Wow, it's been a while since I poked my nose out over here.
Mainly I'm trying (not always successfully -- damn you internet!) to keep my focus on revising Shy Gal.
I want this one to power through and be The One that gets the deal -- from agent or editor: at this time I care not which nabs it first. (I have an editor or two that has expressed interest and they will get a little chance.) So I've been working hard, getting crits, trying to finish crits for others, marking up pages, asking my husband silly questions, thinking too much on unrelated stuff -- and occasionally, I write. Some scenes in the novel had ossified over the years and I have to use a jackhammer on them. And as scenes change, other scenes must be changed.
It's like a novel is this complex calculus and a change in the sums over here means that all these other sums must be changed for the equasions to balance out at the end, and then all these changes go rippling out from there.
Of course, success in getting this book published will open up a whole 'nother can of worms. What will that can of worms be? I am not at liberty to divulge that information as it may compromise our agents in the field.
Yeah, yeah, I'm being vague, I know. Sorry guys.
In the meantime, I'm trying to get this novel revised by mid-January because at about that time a big old gaping pit of overtime will open up and then I'll fall into it for a couple of months.
So I'd better wrap this entry up and get back to story-work. I hope all of you guys are staying warm!
