This is a very, very bad day.
Firstly, I got woken up this morning by our super-loud-industrial-style fire alarm (you know the "woooooooooooooooop wup wup wup wup woooooooooooooooop wup wup wup wup" ones) going off right next to my head every 40 seconds or so. FOR NO REASON. As soon as I had given up on my lay in (every time I started to doze off, it shocked me awake) and went to have a shower, it magically stopped.
No matter, I thought, I am going out for lunch and shopping fun today with two of my good friends from Uni. When I came back into the bedroom I found two texts waiting for me on my phone. It was both of my friends cancelling our meet, because one had to look after their sick young cousin, and the other had to look after her little sister because the childminder had gone nuts or something like that.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr okay, I thought, okay, no matter, entertain yourself. So I got dressed and popped in the brand new cd that I bought yesterday. I very rarely buy cds, especially not ones that are £10, but I thought I'd treat myself to the Dresden Dolls' new album. I haven't even listened to it yet. What happened when I put it in the cd player.....?
It swallowed it. HOW?! Well...
Our cd player is one of those stupid 3-disc players that have a big rotating tray, when I put it in its little compartment and closed the tray, the player decided to spit the cd up on top of the tray, so that when it rotated it pushed the cd all the way to the back of the machine. All I heard was an awful grinding noise and immediately opened the tray again. The cd was gone. I was confused. I pressed "disc change" - nothing. I tried to close the tray, thinking perhaps it would push the cd back onto its compartment. The tray will not close all the way - it is now jammed.
So now the cd player is stuck open, mocking me with its shitty grey tray, and my new cd is stuck in the back of the machine - I don't even know if it is still in one piece. I'm not sure it's going to be in a playable condition when I get it back. IF I get it back.
So then I just sort of broke down in a tantrum a'la 3-year-old-dropping-ice-cream style for a full 5 minutes. When I calmed down a bit I turned on the pc and have now numbed myself into a quiet state of depressed defeat whilst I vent. It's very dark outside today - I don't think my S.A.D is helping matters.
Oh yeah, and the red wool that I am waiting for to complete my set of wool dreads has STILL not turned up and it's been 2 weeks. So I think I'm going to end up having lost my money with the lost-in-the-post excuse, unless this eBayer is actually nice and honest. Hmmmmmmmmm interesting odds.
ARGH!
