Okay, so, I seem to have gotten over my fanfic muse slump, but now the plunnies are biting for a different fic regarding my Hogan's Heroes fics... I want to do the Yami Louis fic before I do the New York fic with General Moore (Sorry,
hogan_macgyver). This fic will be a supernatural one--and it's been a long time since I've written one. And it's the sequel to "A Soldier of Fortune," so I highly recommend reading that before I start the Yami Louis fic, but it's not required. Hopefully, this weekend, I'll get a good start on that, as well as my Nuzlocke (hence the Arcanine icon--I originally wanted an Articuno one (still looking for one, though, if anyone can find some good ones...), but then decided that Arcanine would be best to represent the run overall) and the mermaid Kolchak fic. I really need to stop getting distracted...
But, anyway, did anyone else see the 25th Anniversary special of The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall that was airing on PBS last Sunday? I only caught the tail end of it because I was watching Once Upon a Time at the same time. I... wasn't overly impressed with the voice quality of all three lead roles, to be honest. I found out later that the two playing Erik and Christine were the same ones who played them in that Heaven-awful sequel. Go figure, right? I wasn't impressed by them at all, even before I realized it was them, and now... bleah.
After the finale, Lloyd Webber came onstage and started talking, and I didn't think too much of him since I was annoyed with him creating said Heaven-awful sequel. And I was just about ready to change the channel when... he announces Michael Crawford. And Michael Crawford walks out on stage. Eeeee! Now *that* was worth waiting for! Michael didn't make a speech, sadly, but there were other actors who had played Erik through the years, and they dedicated the last line of "Music of the Night" to Michael ("You alone can make our song take flight...!"). Also, Sarah Brightman was there, and she sang a bit, too. So that was awesome...
...Except that they never mentioned Steve Barton. At all. Again. Why, why why do they absolutely never feel like mentioning him!? Aurgh! If Michael had talked, I'm sure he would've said something about him--he mentioned him in that so-called "documentary" I ranted about some years ago--and was the only one to do so. Sigh. Poor Steve.
On a lighter note, what amazed me most about Michael showing up was the fact that he doesn't look as though he's aged more than a day in those past 25 years. Wow. If there's a Fountain of Youth out there, then he's found it--he looks almost exactly the same!
