I know what you mean, I know no Japanese which is annoying though I hope to try at some point, and will probably never go to see a show live. I'm fine with that though, because like you my very favourites so far are all OG so the pull isn't there. But everyone else...they put us to shame. *cling*
I'm actually surprised to hear you don't know any considering how well you've been able to follow most of the shows from your reviews. But then again, I guess some of the shows don't need much language understanding to follow. After all, I knew even less Japanese than I do now (like next to none) when I saw my first show and yet was somehow able to understand it pretty well. Depends on the show, I guess. 'Cause some I can follow pretty easily and some I'm just like "...huh?" XD Like Ephemeral Love. I own a copy of the show but I'm soooo confused and like I know the history and all so its not like I don't know the basics of it but like I seriously can't figure out whats going on for most of the show and it makes me sad since I know a lot of Zuka fans told me its one of their favorites. Though I also wonder if its because there isn't much actual songs in it, if that might be why I have a hard time really getting into it and following it. As I have noticed I tend to prefer the ones with more musical numbers over the more stage drama ish
( ... )
Well, I use other people's reviews, Takawiki summaries and any scripts/existing material it was based on at first. If that's not enough, I try my best to interpret what goes on. It's why I'm more into the more musical ones too, and why I don't watch the shows so often anymore because I feel I need to concentrate.
You have a perfectly valid excuse. Besides, it's not like you need a big collection, just the ones you like best. If I think I may watch it again I keep it just in case.
Ah ok, yeah, that's pretty much what I do as well. Plus my own limited understanding of Japanese to help me along (I can get the basics of what they're talking about but not the details, so like I can get around Japan alright for the most part due to it but i can't really speak it back).
But anywho, placing an order with myfavoritethingsjapan so I'm kinda excited. ^^ Its mostly just magazines and only one show 'cause they only had one I was interested in available but I'm still pretty excited 'cause I don't have any of the magazines. Got a bunch of Le Cinqs and grabbed one Mook. As well as some CDs.
I seriously meant to reply to this AGES ago. But I REALLY do appreciate the offer! I will definitely keep it in mind when I start actually planning a trip there.
