17 - Titles - Are they the bane of your existence, or the easiest part of the fic? Also, if you do chaptered fic, do you give each chapter a title, or not?
It depends. Sometimes they're easy, but more often than not they're difficult. Mostly I try to go with a poem or song that reminded me of a theme I was trying to convey, but other times, titles just appear. I do hate titling things when I can't think of anything because then nothing feels right - or at least it won't feel right for while. When a title clicks though it just works. It's like that satisfying feeling you get after figuring the solution to a problem.
And this applies to anything I write, not just fanfic. But I hate leaving things untitled, so I usually try to get something up on document, even if I'm not sure that I'll keep it.
Only tried the titles-per-chapter thing once. Never again. I was a young and naive writer at the time and I learned the hard way not to do that again.
Epigraphs though, those rock.
