I've been wanting to watch Castle (I ♥ Nathan Fillion), but have never actually seen an episode before. Is it one I need to start from the beginning, or can I pick it up whenever and be okay?

You've never seen Castle? :O

You are in for a treat. :DDD

That being said, you should start at the beginning: season 1, episode 1. Though each episode mostly stands on its own, there is an overarching plot, and the characters change and grow throughout the season.

I have not! But I shall rectify this! :-) (I love shows where there's overarching plot. Do you watch Criminal Minds, by any chance?) I'm going to go add Castle to the Netflix queue.

It's one of my never-miss shows. :-) It's just now into its seventh (I think?) season and is one of those shows with episodes that appear standalone but really have the deep, overarching season(s) long plots.

If you're not thrilled with the first few episodes, keep watching. It got a LOT better in season two, by which time they figured out how to make Beckett interesting.
