some time-wasting fun

Hiiii, I am procrastinating putting away the Christmas decorations. In lieu of doing that, I stole these questions from... er, someone I follow here.

I have a total of 68 fics uploaded to AO3. That's not every fanfic I've ever written, but it's certainly a large majority of them.

What are your first and second most common work ratings?
Teen and Up (32)
General Audiences (22)

What’s your most common archive warning?
No Archive Warnings Apply (49)
Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings (10)

Perhaps the latter was a default setting when I imported some fanfics from Livejournal to AO3 because I'm not really sure why most of them would include that.

Do you consider yourself an adventurous writer?
I write for fun. I write when an idea won't leave me alone. It's not a master plan of "learn how to write X better", it's just "must be able to write X in order to finish this #!& fic".

Come to think of it, the novel-length fic I wrote back in 2012--that was an adventure for me. So I'll own the adjective for that fic.

How many fics have you written in each pairing category?
Gen (47)
F/M (40)

Is this more accidental, or do you have preferences?
I like gen fic the most. I don't ship much, and when I do, I nearly always stick to canon pairs. My top concern, if I can say that I have one while writing, is that I want female characters included in the story and doing interesting things.

What are your top 4 fandoms by numbers?
Battlestar Galactica (2003) (27)
Person of Interest (TV) (23)
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (2015) (7)
Doctor Who (2005) (5)

Are you still active in any of them, and do you tend to migrate a lot?
Hoping to remain active in TMFU fandom, because I have a couple of story ideas that I really want to continue. I do have an unfinished fic (never posted) for Person of Interest that I still peek at from time to time as well. But don't hold your breath waiting to see any of it. The five stories for Doctor Who were very much centered around the Tenth Doctor, because that's when Martha Jones was on the show. She was the character that I really connected to.

It's interesting to see these numbers, since I almost five years of inactivity in fic-writing. Four and a half of no solo fic; I did co-write a fic early in that solo writing hiatus, but it was more "Rosie outlines, Blacktop writes".

What are your top 4 relationship tags?
Sam Anders/Kara "Starbuck" Thrace (7)
Illya Kuryakin/Gaby Teller (6)
Joss Carter/John Reese (5)
Leoben Conoy/Kara "Starbuck" Thrace (5)

Does this match how you feel about the characters, or are you puzzled?
It matches how I used to feel about them, so not, I'm not surprised. Kara/Sam was my second ship for BSG; I started with Kara/Leoben and then migrated to Kara/Sam when the show made Sam into a Cylon and there was ANGST to mine.

Looking at all four pairings, that's a big theme: MAJOR OBSTACLES exist in any of these pairings getting a happily-ever-after together. I wouldn't want that HEA for Kara/Leoben. The one time I wrote something resembling an HEA for them, it was intended to be ominous and sad.

I guess what's surprising is that there aren't any gen fic "pairings" (using the ampersand) in the top four, but now that I think about it, AO3 initially didn't have that option.

What are your top 2 most used additional tags, and your bottom 2?
Angst (9)
POV Female Character (5)

Resistance (3)
Character(s) of Color (3)

Reflective of my inconsistency in tagging things more than anything else. I have a whole lot of fics written from a female character's POV, for instance.

What would happen if you combined all 4 of these into a fic?
I'm guessing that "Resistance" refers to Battlestar Galactica. Given that I haven't written fic for that show since 2011, it would be hard to create it; I seem to require a hyper fixation in order to write fic, and that's long gone for BSG.

How many WIPs do you have currently running on AO3? Any you don’t plan on finishing?
I usually don't start posting stories if they're not close to finished. The exception is my Gaby Teller birthday vignettes series; I have it marked as complete because it really is a series of vignettes rather than a multi-chapter story.

It's the story I want to add to the most, though. I'm really stuck on her thirteenth birthday vignette and have been for more than a year.
