awwwww (show rec)

I'm glad that I tried more than just the pilot episode of Raising Dion (Netflix, season one came out October 2019). So far (just over halfway through s1) it's better than the pilot would indicate. One thing that has improved: the child actors. They're very young, which makes a difference in the type of story that's being told. How do you control your newly-discovered superpowers when you're so young that you can't control, well, much of anything?

(There is more of Michael B. Jordan than the snippets in the trailer. He's not the lead, but he's going to be important, I'm guessing. I mean... who would cast MBJ without him being important?)

edited to add: Yes, this show has some mediocre elements. But it also had excellent family dynamics and a twist that made me sit up and say, "Ooooh, wait, that thing was on purpose?!" So that was fun.

I got stuck in the middle of Stumptown 1.07. The show thinks I should be rooting for Dex x Gray but I don't. This leads to the love triangle boring me so much. Ugh. Also, the story of the week was annoying me. Eh. I'll just bail on the rest of the episode and try 1.08 when it shows up on Hulu.

Speaking of not finishing: Seven Kinds of Hell by Dana Cameron was a Kindle deal of the day, but it wasn't worth the ninety-nine cents or my time. Possibly an interesting story buried within the boring prose, but I didn't care enough to excavate it.

And now for something completely different: household repairs. Fingers crossed that the part I ordered will fix the non-fuctioning appliance.
