it's not a defeat, it's a strategic... regrouping

Steps I took that did NOT lead to successfully changing the car headlight bulb this evening:
  1. Take out owner's manual. Pat self on back because this looks so easy.
  2. Fail at disconnecting the negative battery cable, in spite of attempts with wrench, needle-nosed pliers, WD-40 and glaring looks.
  3. Call Dad to check if I'll die if I don't have the battery post disconnected. He says no.
  4. Succeed at removing electrical plug from back of headlight bulb. Congratulate self for not dying.
  5. Make many and varied attempts to pull burned-out bulb from back of headlight: following directions, not following directions, turning and twisting various things, talking to Dad on phone while he tells me that his car is apparently different, employing death glare, sitting on ground in frustration, and then start over on this step multiple times.
  6. Make pouty post on LJ.
I've changed the blinker bulbs before, but the clamps holding the headlight bulb in place defeated me. Woe.

*manly womanly sniffles*
