a tv meme

Dec 22, 2011 14:33

My latest (last? I hope!) version of a Yuletide story is with my beta-reader. I'm fairly confident that y'all aren't going to guess which story I wrote this year. (And the one person who guessed correctly last year already knows, so...)

TV meme? Sure, why not.
Which TV shows did you start watching in 2011?
I'm only listing the (new) shows I watched more than one episode of: The Killing (US), Once Upon a Time, Person of Interest, Revenge, Prime Suspect (US).

Which TV shows did you let go of in 2011?
Revenge wasn't going in a direction that interested me. (Which is to say it was going in too many directions.) The Killing (US)--it lost the edge I was enjoying and I never finished the second half of the (short) season. 30 Rock, although I had mostly abandoned it before 2011 started. At this point it represents a lot of what I hate about TV comedies--which isn't to say it doesn't have funny moments, but UGH, I will never forgive it for that 'joke' in the season four premier.

I've gotten behind on Prime Suspect; knowing that it's canceled has taken away my motivation to catch up. Does that count as letting go? Also, I only watched one episode each of Fairly Legal, Homeland, Terra Nova and Ringer; they didn't interest me enough to track them down to keep watching. I was never a faithful fan of Castle, but I did intend to keep watching; somehow that didn't happen.

Which TV shows did you mean to get into but didn't in 2011? Why?
There really aren't any new shows that I missed and intended to check out. So that leaves older shows; I've been meaning to watch season one of Luther. Also, I need to finish season two of Fringe (and catch up on the rest). Why haven't I? Eh, I'm not sure...

Which TV shows do you intend on checking out in 2012?
I have no idea what's coming up, so I can't answer this question. Wait, there's Doctor Who. Looking forward to that. And I really do plan to watch Luther and Fringe.

Which TV show impressed you least in 2011?
Terra Nova, I guess. Mostly because it felt like it was trying really hard to be a movie, with broad brushstrokes instead of the fine details that TV shows have time to portray. I enjoyed the first episode, but when I couldn't find a legal online source for episode two at the moment I wanted to watch, I didn't care enough to try any other way.

Which TV show impressed you the most in 2011? Why?
Parks & Recreation had an amazing third season. The fourth has been pretty sweet as well. Plus I've turned into a ridiculously rabid Leslie/Ben shipper. (Didn't mean for that to happen. I'm still sort of confused about how I ended up here!) Community was hit or miss, but it had some moments of absolute genius; there really wasn't anything like it.

As for Person of Interest, it manages to hit a lot of the things I find fannishly awesome. Not a great TV show, but hugely entertaining and pretty much perfect for me to poke around in and think about fanfic (that I mostly don't write). I have noticed some cool details that only someone paying close attention could spot; I like shows that reward their viewers in that way.

Which TV shows do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why?
I don't really do that.
