me-modified-May (post 1 of ?)
I finally gave up on the idea of writing Peter Bishop fic and started watching Fringe again. Sorry, Peter! More on Fringe after I have a few more episodes to talk about.
In the meantime, before my camera died I took some pictures of outfits that fit under my personal Me-modified-May challenge. The idea was for me to wear something at least three times a week that I had either made or modified from its state when I purchased it. If I can revive the camera (or if I buy a new one soon enough) I may make another post. In the meantime, here's what I've chronicled so far:
blue dress: thrifted 70's dress, hem shortened and sleeves altered by me*
fuchsia camisole: thrifted
sandals: Bass
scarf tied in hair: thrifted, repaired tear in hem
leather belt: Kohl's
*I have no qualms about doing terrible things to vintage clothes when they're less than five dollars at the thrift store.
Supergirl pose! I need a cape flowing behind me, though.
purple shirt: thrifted
shorts: thrifted as trousers, cut to mid-knee length
belt: thrifted
sandals: Clarks
black and white print shirt: thrifted
red skirt: made by me (McCalls 5523)
black shoes: thrifted
I actually wore this with the shirt untucked and a black belt at the waist, but since I wanted to show the detail of the skirt, I kept it tucked for the photos.
light blue blouse: thrifted, sleeves altered from 3/4 to short with elastic at the edges
paisley print skirt: thrifted, ruffle hemmed a bit shorter
brown jacket: Kohl's
shoes: DSW
embroidered blouse: thrifted, buttons swapped (because two were missing anyway, and they were an ugly beige color)
camisole: JC Penney
tan corduroy skirt: thrifted, hem shortened
cowboy boots: Christmas present
red necklace: thrifted, made earrings to match
blue shirtdress: thrifted, altered to fit my size by taking in the sides, recutting the sleeves and reinserting them; hemmed shorter as well
red fake-leather belt with fabric tie: fabrics thrifted, made the belt on the sewing machine (yay, leather needles!)
red sandals: Famous Footwear
red necklace: same as before
Way easier to buy stuff at the thrift store and alter them than to sew something from nothing. Well... at least most of the time. Maybe I'll get some sewing done this summer.
Since the camera is (temporarily?) dead, you'll just have to imagine the knee-length princess-seamed linen dress in coral. (It was originally the color of concrete and came to about mid-calf; I dyed it and cut off the hem.)
