I got a CD from a guy I know "Smooth Jazz Ballads" and on it was a fabulous singer I sadly never heard of before, Peabo Bryson, who has an amazingly beautiful voice. I will buy a CD by this singer in the next days.
Then I listened to the soundtrack CD of the movie "De-Lovely" after serafina recommended it. I have to agree with her that "In the Still of the Night" is a most beautiful and touching song. I loved the energetic interpretation of "Let's Do It" in the version of Alanis Morissette, and thought that all her interpretative choices were subtle but interesting, but I thought that Ashley Judd sadly butchered "True Love". Being a singer myself I have probably a low tolerance for non-singers performing songs. Kevin Kline did o.k. in my book with "Be a Clown" and "Blow, Gabriel, Blow" though, and I thought Sheryl Crowe's rendition of "Beguine the Beguine" was disappointingly boring and undecided. I just didn't get what she wanted to do with the song.
