Title: Not (at all) Cocky
Characters: Bumblebee
Series: TF-Prime: Darkness Rising
Rating: K+
Summary: Being overconfident will lead to your doom - knowing your limitations might keep you safe.
Prompt #1 Rewrite a canon (critical) scene and exchange one important character for another one - what happens?

Three years after the last Decepticon incursion, Bumblebee cruised along the old Route 66, scanning the abandoned roads and forgotten, empty cities for energon signatures.

While the interstate and state highways would have been faster, Bumblebee didn’t mind the back roads, the service ways -they were ore likely to be devoid of humans (which he did mind), and might e hiding treasure troves of energon.

His scanner pinged, finding something of interest on the outer range of his sensors.  Energon?

He slowed down, swerved off the road (which was little more than a well-packed dirt pathway in this section), contacted both Optimus Prime and Arcee with his tentative finding.

“Lighten up, Cliff.”  Arcee switched lines.  “Need back-up, Bee?”  She offered.

Bumblebee warbled a yes.  The signal grew stronger, and was definitely energon - but from the strength of the signal, it wasn’t just a trace amount, or even a recently exposed small crystal.  No, this was strong enough to be a major mining operation - and if he could sense it from the road, the Cons had definitely located it from the air.

One or two Decepticions he could take down.  But a whole flight?  No - not by himself.  He needed back-up if he was going to get a complete read-out on this mining operation.

As he followed the still-growing readouts, Bumblebee pulled up to a quarry, looked down in vehicle mode.  Yes, there had been a major operation at this site - and a lot of raw crystal had already been harvested.  Clearly the Decepticions knew about this unearthed catch.

A faint rumbling grew louder.  Bumblebee glanced around for shelter, trying to avoid the metal bird.  No trees, and all the buildings nearby had been demolished.  He shot off an update to Prime, regarding his findings, the location, and the approaching ship, then prepared to fight, yet waited in vehicle mode, doing his best to imitate a rusted car.

Scrap!  Whoever was driving that airship wasn’t taking his illusion at face value.  Bumblebee pealed out, avoiding the dropping cons, aiming for the edges of the group, hoping to flee the scene before more fighting miners could encircle his location.  One or two enemy, he could take out.  Three or more could (and would probably) capture him, especially since he lacked back-up.

He tried staying above the excavated pit, but when the cons got too close, he transformed, threw one over and down, then struggled in the grasp of six others.

As Arcee arrived on sight, Bumblebee armed his cannon and started shooting - only firing when a miss wouldn’t shatter the spirals of energon crystals.

The Cons had no such restraint.  The ship only withheld its fire because he was in the midst of valuable drones.  Before Arcee could reach Bee’s side (sowing chaos in the midst of the fighters), a stray shot impacted one of the towering slabs, creating an explosion that quickly mushroomed into a black-cloud, stunning Autobots and Decepticions alike.

Being on the ridge - and not near the center of the explosion - Arcee and Bumblebee managed to get to their feet before more cons could drop in.

Arcee activated the communications link.  “Ratchet!  We need a ground-bridge NOW.”  The two disappeared, leaving only remnants of useless energon behind.

Back on base, Cliffjumper was the first to approach.  “What were you thinking, Bumblebee?  You could have been killed!”  The red warrior chastised, then hugged the smaller bot.  “Glad you made it back, safe.”  He released Bee, turned to Arcee.  “You better not be thinking of going after the cons on your own.”

The blue-motor cycle shrugged off the red-mustang’s concern.  “No reason to - we’re all safe.”

Title:  Dare-Devil Hypothesis
Characters: Perceptor
Series: any/all - G1
Rating: K+
Summary: The urge to switch on his optics was very strong, but he brushed aside the need to see.
Prompt #2 someone temporarily loss a major sense (Sight) - what happens?

Perceptor emerged from recharge perfectly fine and healthy.  Only, he failed to activate his optics.

Normally, the loss of visual input would cause some disorientation - Not for the red-scientist.

He went to his laboratory as if nothing was wrong, walking down the hallways by memory alone.  He increased the sensitivity of his audios to warn him if or when others approached.  Once in his lab, his fingers reached for sealed jars.  Felt the outside, trying to identify the contents.  “Blast it, why didn’t I label them in Braille?”

Perceptor vented.  Opened one canister, smelled the contents.  “Sodium dioxide.”  He positively identified all the liquid chemicals without mishap.

Over the course of his day, the scientist created an image of his entire lab, complete with the tools, tables, benches, and everything else - using nothing but touch, audio, and smell.

“Success” Perceptor said upon the completion of his experiment.  “it is possible to navigate the world without visual input.”  He blinked and his optics activated, adding visual input to the mental map, and undoing hours of work.

Series: Bayverse
Rating: K+
Summary: Returning home after the battle is finished should be a joyous event -
Prompt #3 Homecoming

Theresa Epps stood with the families of those who had a husband, brother, son, mother, sister, or daughter serving their country.  Her husband, the father of their five daughters, had been stationed in Afghanistan when his base had suffered a total blackout.  Now she waited for him to come home.

AS the crowd of expectant wives, husbands, children and parents thinned, as knots of families caught sight of the one they were waiting for, Theresa looked harder at the incoming soldiers, seeing one face in particular.

There!

“Bobby!”  Theresa ran, hugged Robert Epps with all her strength.

“Daddy!”  Their precious children embraced the returning father, holding him tight as if afraid he might disappear.

Title: Shenanigans
Characters: Sunstreaker, Sideswipe
Series: G1 - any/all
Rating: K
Summary: The best part about setting up pranks?  Not getting caught.
Prompt #4 So. Totally. Busted.

The faint but brisk sound of feet echoed through the mostly empty corridor.

The red melee warrior almost dropped the paint can.  His optics searched frantically for a nearby shadow to hide the just opened canister.  There wasn’t anyplace in reach.

The yellow melee warrior twitched as the approaching footsteps came closer.  All the doors to this level were locked - except Perceptor’s lab.  (Which happened to be the door they were standing in front of).

Prowl turned the corner, spotted the twins.  “Dare I ask what you two are doing?”

“No.”

Surveying the current damage - which happened to be nonexistent - the grey mech said, “If that’s holding pink paint, place it above Prime’s office.  Otherwise, return it to storage.”  He left without another word.

Title: Manacles
Characters: Soundwave, Starscream
Series: any/all - G1
Rating: K+
Summary: Expect the unexpected isn’t enough of warning when it comes to getting on each other’s nerves.
Prompt #6 chained together

Starscream stared at Soundwave.  Soundwave ignored the stare, intent on studying the lock of the handcuffs.  “Ingenious”  the communications mech said at last.

“I don’t care how you describe these” chains rattled, “the situation is intolerable!”  Starscream shook his hand for emphasis.

Soundwave thought about it, then calmly used his free hand to touch the immobilized elbow.  With a hiss, the arm separated into two sections.  He stepped away, leaving the chained half with the irate Air-Commander.  “Lock made of adamantium.  Impossible to damage.”

Starscream stared at the gray dismembered arm.  “Well, I don’t have a spare just laying about!”
