Yesterday, I cleaned my car - hand washing it with a rag, and soapy water then rinsing with the hose.
I got some sun - which is what I wanted, cause I am so pale from winter's sunless days - and I got outside - much better than being stuck inside a cubical all day or cleaning house only for family to mess up right after I put everything away.
Sure, I could have taken the car to an automatic car wash - would have been faster and cheaper - or paid someone else to detail the car, because that's their job.
Chose not to.
It's my car, my responsibility to take care of it.
Plus, when I handwash, I can get the dirt in the cracks, crevices, and tops of the windows that the automatic wash misses or streaks - I hate it when I pay extra, and it still leaves dirt behind!
This also gives me a chance to inspect the chassis for dings, scratches, and dimples.
(There better not be any such imperfections in the body! No one else drives it, yet I certainly didn't put those chips in the paint, so where did the damage come from?)
Long term, handwashing saves money - sure, it's only a few bucks whenever I go to the carwash, but those fell bucks add up. (sometimes, those bottle cleaners are a great buy, sometimes not).
Now I can take pride in my work - this is something I can see.
(Did I mention that the I almost didn't recognize my vehicle when I was done? It was in the spot I parked it, and has my junk inside, but I am not used to a just-waxed shine)
