Summary: Soundwave recognizes himself in Prowl.
Analyzing battle strategies after the fact, Soundwave found himself admiring Prowl. Oh, Blaster knew a thing or two about cutting through jamming and worked tirelessly to find ways of keeping the Autobot forces communicating, but it was Prowl that continually provided plans that upset Megatron’s forces.
Being enemies, Soundwave could not let anyone - least of all himself - dwell on the fact that Prowl’s processors were superior, and that he wanted to do more than possess the battle computer’s abilities, to study the unique systems and adapt them for Decepticon use. He wanted Prowl.
Cassettes, little miscreants they could be, were all too willing to pass messages along. And, so, if he chose to let his desire to play havoc with Prowl be known, why not? He doubted any mech would realize Soundwave yearned for another mind next to his - that he was more than the “walking computer” he and his spark-twin were assumed to be by their enemies.
Sowing doubt in Prowl, letting him think there was something wrong in his analysis of the hints provided, might possibly create confusion among the Autobots - a lack of cohesion that Megatron’s lesser troops could utilize to full advantage.
Soundwave would be victorious.
