Finally

Fourty-three days since Star Wars: The Force Awakens first opened in theaters, and it was worth the wait.
(Well, I think it was - the suspence of not knowing/not viewing for self might have irritated some people, but after a slight spoiler told me who was behind the darth mask, I was content in going after the crowds, and letting the hard-core fans catch it first).

I loved it!
Not only could I understand the dialogue without needing subtitles to know what was being said (irritating, needing closed captioning to "hear" conversations), but the way J.J. Abrams played with the shadows and lighting, made it feel very real and gigantic.
And to have all the old cast - (well, except sir Alec Guinness, who died in 2000), seeing those who stared in the 1977 Star Wars: A New Hope and its immediate sequals, playing their same characters in the newest movie/episode, was a delight all of its own.

I don't suppose I NEED spoiler warnings, as it has been over six weeks since people have been able to see it, but I probably should, seeing as it took me this long to watch for myself.

So, for those who don't want to know, you might want to stop reading now!

Kylo Ren (don't know his actor's name, as of yet), makes a superb Evil Dark minion - following in the footsteps of Darth Vader seems to be his lifelong mission, even if it means destroying everything and everyone that once meant something to dear ol' Ben Solo.
Poe Dameron as the galaxy's best pilot?  In the movies, I suppose it makes sense, as it has been a generation (or two) since Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Wedge Antilles and all the other X-Wing Pilots were in the spotlight - but those who enjoyed the books - particularly the X-Wing Series by Michael A. Stackpole, and Aaron Allston - might disagree with "best pilot in the known galaxy".
Rey, scavenger from Jakku, becoming the one upon whom the hopes for the galaxy rest?  I say, it's about time women become protagonists and not just side-characters or love interests for the male cast (I thought Daisy Ridley played the role quite well).  Although I do wonder what happened to her parents and why she was left behind, with no last name given.  Maybe she is simply unwilling to give that up to people she hardly knows.
Finn, stormtrooper FI-2187 (the number is a tie-in to the original trilogy), given a new chance at life, and a new name (due to not remembering his, having been raised in a stormtrooper creche' or similar since a very young age - as all current generation 'Troopers are), helps bring everyone together, although not because he wants to fight the First Order.

Am looking forward to more Star Wars.
Though, I am disappointed that the original Expanded Universe, has largely become LEGENDS - due to the fact that the movies no longer follow what the books (and comics) had established as canon.
Oh well.
Better for J.J. Abrams (and Lawrence Kasdan, who - according to Wikipedia - helped cowrite the Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and now The Force Awakens)  to create his own mark on the Star Wars franchise, instead of simply turning a novel into a movie.
Fans seem delighted with how it turned out - and it was well done, with many elements coming from all three original movies.  Good way to connect my generation with my parents generation, and the opportunity to see Star Wars in theater!
