SPICED CRANBERRY CIDER
2 quarts apple cider
1 1/2 quarts cranberry cocktail
1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
4 three-inch cinnamon sticks
1 1/2 teaspoons whole cloves
1 lemon, thinly sliced
combine all ingredients in large kettle.
Heat to boiling; reduce heat and simmer 15 to 20 minutes.
With slotted spoon, remove cinnamon, cloves and lemon slices.
If desired, float fresh lemon slice in each cup.
should make 25 servines of aprox 1/2 cup each
(and since I haven't yet found a coffe I like, maybe spicing it with this recipe will be something I should try)
SPICED COFFEE
2 cups water
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 three-inch cinnamon sticks
Peel of one (1) orange
1/4 teaspoon while allspice
1 tablespoon instant coffe.
Combine all ingredients except coffee in saucepan.
Heat to boiling.
Strain mixture; pour liquid over coffee in heatproof container and stir until coffee is dissolved.
If desired, serve with twist of lemon peel or cinnamon stick
Should make about 6 servies aprox 1/3 cup each
(This following tea recipie looks interesting - especially since most teas are a hit/miss for me ... one day, I'll figure out why I like some flavors and not others)
SPICED TEA
4 cups boiling water
4 teaspoons loose tea
6 whole cloves, broken into pieces
1/2 teaspoon dried orange peel
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
Pour boiling water over tea, cloves, orange peel and cinnamon in heatproof container.
Cover: let steep 3 to 5 minutes.
stir and strain
Makes six servines (2/3 cup each)
