I had a blast on the Forth-of-July!
Lots of food avaliable at the barbeque:
FRESH Corn-on-the-Cob! (some grilled, some heated in boiling water, some roasted and topped with cheese)
Fruit salad - lots of varieites (one, straight fruit, like watermelon, cantelope, honeydew, pineapple, strawberries; another, whipped cream, strawberries, blackberries, banannas, blueberries; and even more options ripe for eating)
Grilled hamburgers, all the trimmings avaliable
Grilled hot-dogs, all kinds of condiments for flavor
grilled/barbequed/marinated chicken - honey chipotle flavour, YUM!
homemade enchiladas,
Potatoes gallore - including potato salad, scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes, baked potato, et cetera
for drinks: water, soda, lemonade, punch, Martinelle's Sparkling Cider, milk (plain or chocolate), and juices
way too many desserts - pies, cakes, cookies, other - to list, so I'll conclude my food-list by saying 'a lot'
Loved the watching the fireworks.
Favorite are the rockets that shoot up and then dazzle with flashes of colors -
but the 'snake' (one I'd never seen before) was cool! - My dad lit this one, placed it on the cement, and watched it burn. While 'the snake' burned, it grew, ... both my sister and I said that it looked like the ground was pooping! (wish I'd recorded it - was sad when the last 'snake' turned into ashes).
Pool party was nice. Perfect way too cool off as the temperatures soared into the triple digets. (and for some of us, good time to work on a proper sun-tan ... provided sunscreen was applied regularly)
Not too many people in this local family/friend get-to-gether.
Actually, all this activity happened not just on the 4th, but on the days precedding and following.
No matter, gave me more time to pig out and reunite with old aquantances.
