Warnings: Fluff. Lots of fluff. With a hint of angst.
Disclaimer: I do not own anything. Except my far too expensive college books I was forced to buy.
Author's Notes: This story has been bugging me since June and I've finally given in and written it. I have no idea where the title came from but I think it works. It's my first legit fic ever so be gentle please. This is not beta'd so all mistakes are mine.

When Kris said that he wanted to buy a hammock, Adam didn’t think he would actually do it. He just thought Kris was doing his sleepy mumbling thing that he does when he is tired.

It’s not that Adam dislikes hammocks. It is just that there was this one time with a bunch of people, some weed, and flailing limbs. Needless to say an elbow to the gut, a bruised knee, and a sprained wrist later Adam decided that hammocks and drugs, but mostly just hammocks sucked. Kris seems to love them though. Apparently everyone has a hammock in Arkansas which Adam seriously doubts but he doesn’t feel like arguing. But he doesn’t expect to come home and find a hammock build in his backyard either.

“Adam!” Kris calls as soon as hears Adam come in the door. “Come outside. I have a surprise for you.”

“Kris what are you talking about? What surprise?” he says as he walks outside. He stops suddenly as he sees what Kris is so excited about.

“Adam look! I got us a hammock!” Kris exclaims as if he is a kid with a new toy. Adam just stares at him like his boyfriend grew three heads.

“Adam, come on! Come try it out with me,” Kris says as he climbs up onto it.

“Uhh. Maybe later. I really need to shower. The photo shoot today was really long and uh yeah.” With that Adam turns and walks back into the house and promptly locking himself in the bathroom for a good hour and a half. Just to be safe.

It is surprisingly easy to avoid Kris trying to get him in the hammock. That is until Kris starts moping. He starts staying up late and not bothering to shave. Adam thinks it’s a little extreme Adam finally finds him one afternoon sleeping in the hammock with a beer bottle still in his hand dangled over the side and his face tear stained.

“Kris, baby, wake up. What happened?” Adam asks shaking him awake.
“Hmmphhhinluhmenemre” Kris mumbles into the hammock where his face is planted.
“Baby, c’mon get up. Tell me what’s wrong.” Adam says as he pulls Kris up gently.

“Oh so now you want to talk to me. You know Adam if you got bored with me at least you could have just told me instead of avoiding me and becoming all distant. I should have known this was coming. It’s fine. Knew I shouldn’t have given up the lease on that apartment. Stupid why would you want to keep me forever anyway. I’m just too boring for you.” By the end of his rant Kris had sounded like he was only speaking to himself.

“Wait, what? Kris what are you talking about?” Adam says still trying to process what Kris just said.

“You’re obviously bored with me Adam. You’ve barely even looked at me in the last week and every time I tried to talk to you, you made up some excuse and ran off. What am I supposed to think Adam?”

“Oh baby, no.” Adam whispers pulling Kris into him. “I could never be bored with you and I do want you forever you lunatic.”

“Then why have you been avoiding me all week Adam? What did I do?” Kris interrupts.
“Kris, you didn’t do anything. I just thought that you were going to bug me about trying out this thing and I didn’t want to keep telling you “no” andIreallyjusthatehammocksokay?
Now I was Kris’s turn to be confused. “Wait what? You hate hammocks? You’ve been distant and making me think that you were going to break up with me because you don’t like hammocks! Are you kidding me Adam? I was depressed and freaking out all week because well yes at first I wanted you to try out the hammock but then you barely talked to me at all and I didn’t know why? Adam you really hate hammocks that much?”

“I just… I don’t like them okay? Bad memories involving a bunch of theater people, weed, and a hammock and let’s just say my sprained wrist was completely not worth it. Kris I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to avoid you. I just wanted to you know, not have you find about the hammock thing. Ever.” Adam says ending with a pout for good measure.

“Adam, can I please show you why I wanted you to try out the hammock with you in the first place?” Kris mumbles against Adam’s ear.

“I guess I owe you that and a whole lot more right now, don’t I?”
“Damn right you do.” Kris says as he pushes Adam down to lie in the hammock carefully getting on top of his boyfriend.
“Kris, be careful, we’re going to fall…” Kris cuts him off by kissing him gentle and sweet.

They take their time just lazily making out on the hammock until the eventually doze off blissfully in the late afternoon.

By the time Adam wakes up it is almost dark out. Kris stirs next to him.
“Hi.”
“Mmm hey.”
“So I am beginning to rethink my stance on hammocks. Maybe they are not so bad after all especially when you are there. ” Adam tells Kris with a kiss to his temple for emphasis. Kris just snuggles in closer and they both fall back asleep in their hammock.
