So, my mobile has stopped receiving calls but otherwise seems to be working. I haven't tried making calls as I never have any credit. I suspect that the problem is the sim, which is an Orange one and the 'phone is on the EE network (which took over Orange a while ago). I thought about going to the EE shop to see if they could replace it but, let's face it, the 'phone is OLD, so I'm treating myself to a new one. It's still an old-fashioned one - I'm not ready to go 'smart' yet! - but it's red and it's 'clam' style, so I can go all Star Trek with it!
We sent off our 'right to buy' application, yesterday. If we're approved, we should get a 58% discount, which would be a BIG help. Depending how much we borrow, we could have the house paid off in a few years. My inner Socialist isn't quite convinced this is a good idea - property is theft after all - but it looks like a mortgage is cheaper than the rent and it needs very little in the way of repairs.
I'm looking into coaching and doing it freelance. The Diocese have people called Clergy Reviewers who get top-notch training and then spend 3 years carrying out Clergy Reviews. Each priest has a review every year, reflecting on the past year and looking forward to the next. I do feel that coaching is something that comes from within me. My other specialisms - process mapping, UPK, project management - are things that connect with me but aren't part of me in the same way. And other than project management - which I don't have enough experience in - they aren't in high demand. When my new line manager starts, however, I'm going to see what I can do about getting some REAL project management experience.
Really interesting meeting of the AI group last night. My service on 24 July has morphed into something that could be really helpful to people. Now I just need to make sure the one for this Sunday is ready...
I have no anxieties about the Vacancy - my concern is that we attract people who only see St Bride's as a career step for them. However, C reminded me that I need to trust God in this, that he won't let the wrong person be appointed. I really needed to hear those words!
