Another post about where the fuck did THAT week go?

Sunday, we tried our freecycle table for the first time at church. The person who is supposed to be running it with me was away - wtf? Still, we put out the few things that had been donated and they all went, so... But part of the point is to try to connect with the surrounding community, which we're not going to do unless we go outside with the table. So, yeah, still some kinks to work out.

The grandson stayed an extra night because of the Bank Holiday - not that we saw much of him. He basically plugs himself into the Playstation for the duration, these days. But in order to at least feel like I'm spending some time with him, I'm typing this on the bed while he plays on the telly in our room.

Tuesday to Friday are just a kind of blur. I'm not even sure what I achieved but I seemed to tick off all the things in my calendar. I'm also feeling, 'what is the point of all this shit that I spend my life doing?'. We did an interesting exercise in project impact assessments. Listening to the debate between S and K (and occasionally joining in) on what figure should go in a box was surprisingly good fun. So, yeah - there was that. But surely there is more to life?

I suppose, ultimately, I'm a 'work-to-live' person. My work is not what defines me, it's a way of paying for stuff I like. That doesn't mean I don't want to feel I'm making a positive contribution to the Universe, though. Of course, my work with St Bride's has always been my counterbalance to my frustrations at the Uni. That does feel like good things. *sigh* I'm still in the process of putting together my BA evidence. There's no rush for it but I think I'll feel better when it's done.

Got 'Unfinished Swan' as a late birthday present from the son. It was really disconcerting at first. Everything is just white and you have to splash paint around to show things up so that you can see where you're going. Further on, there are at least shadows so that you can see where you're going. The paint is changed for water that you use to manipulate gates and locks and things. So, interesting.

FF8 is £8... I am sooo tempted... I could happily spend the rest of my life playing that game... BUT, I have LA Noire and Unfinished Swan to play through, DAO to replay (I should have loved that game - I need to give it another try!), AND FFX and FFX-2 to replay. It's not like I need another game...

BUT it's FF8 for £8...

Ahem. So, I've finished the first draft of Mannerley and have got everything in the right order. Now, I need to add some missing stuff, work out exactly where the parchment is and how the girls find it, and then smooth everything over before sending out to my betas. So, yeah - about a year from now, it MIGHT be ready for final edit :D

I'm giving myself this week off, though. I'm going to write the tarot challenge from Black Ship Books - I'm going to use the Guardian (Devil) from the Merlin Deck as the basis of my story. I'm also working on a piece for 70x700, which I haven't touched in far too long. So, no Mannerley for a few days but still some writing.

And that's about where life is at the moment. Bye for now, LJ!

wtf is the point?, 70x700, flash fiction, black ship books, gaming, work is work, writing
