So, my line manager actually asked a question that felt like him being a half-way-useful line manager this week. I've been gathering information on a small system that mostly works but also has quirks that drive people crazy - but I'm definitely wearing 'BA Hat' not 'Project Support Hat'. I was going through my findings and he asked, 'So, what are your recommendations?'. Which sounded like a question designed to encourage my BA ambitions. Still not quite the guided approach I'd find useful but a baby-step in the right direction.
In lieu of actual support from any level of management, I've turned to the internet and found a whole slew of blogs and websites designed to help fledgling BAs to find their feet. So, I've been reading and thinking a lot about my next steps. My next 1-1 with my line manager is scheduled for the week after next when I'm off work, so that's not going to happen. But I think for the one after (another two weeks further on) I might discuss my 'roadmap'.
Monday was busy. We began an Appreciative Inquiry process at church, which was a really great session. We're beginning to plan out the path for the next seven years. Watch this space.
Thursday was the St Luke's staff meeting. We have quite a few trainee vicars and readers on placement with us at the moment, two of whom joined the meeting. I reflected on 'converting' a colleague to voting! There are less than two weeks to go to the General Election - it's going to be a really interesting one, this year.
I've done some good work on the ghostly appearance chapter of Mannerley and finished off two short stories for
70x700, so a productive week writing-wise.
And I've reached Mount Gagazet in FFX.
If the rain stays off, I think I'll get the wild flower seeds sown at the end of the garden.
So, that was this week. Until next week, LJ!
