Well, I'm making no promises about keeping this thing updated every day but I do want to pop something in more regularly than every three months :D
I've been having some thoughts about the group dynamics of my Nano novel. This might live better in my writing LJ but I can't be bothered swapping over. So, I was watching the first disc of the Appendices to 'Fellowship of the Ring' and Peter Jackson was talking about how the Fellowship works together as a team, each member having a part to play. It got me thinking about my little group and how Stella's presence might actual upset the apple cart. I think I'd imagined that she would somehow slot in seamlessly, that all the angst and worry would be on her side as she tried to get home. In reality, though, the mercenaries have been living and working together for quite a while. Why should they simply accept her presence without a qualm? I shall pop some notes into
Mind42.com in a bit.
It's been a very busy week, considering it was supposed to be a relaxing one. I did manage to give the kitchen a proper clean, but I never got round to the living room. It will have to wait for next weekend.
Our new kitchen, bathroom and downstairs loo look really good, now. I managed to get some really nice storage things to keep the clutter down in the bathroom so cleaning it is now a breeze. I also moved all the bottles of cleaner that were lurking in the downstairs loo into the kitchen, so that just has the bare essentials of soap, hand towel, toilet roll holder and bowl of pot pourri. OK, the latter makes me a middle-class wannabe but I don't care :D We've painted the doors in the kitchen and downstairs loo this week (hence the busy-ness - trekking backwards and forwards to B&Q and Rapid). Now there's just the hall, stairs and landing and living room to do.
And this is where we run into trouble. I want to do the hall etc first, 'cos we can have the whole lot (painting, new carpet on stairs and landing and laminate in the hall) done by Christmas. The husband wants to focus on saving to do the living room but that's going to take at least a year - unless I get a promotion at work (which has almost been promised but I can't plan on the basis of maybes). His point is that the living room is where we spend most time and where visitors come. And, of course, he's right. He also says it's not going to cost that much but he's only thinking of the decorating and flooring - I want to go the whole hog and get new furniture, too. I don't really see the point, otherwise. So, we have a bit of a stand-off. I just hope that promotion comes through, soon!
I'm replaying 'Broken Sword' on the DS. It has a really interesting story. The DS is pretty powerful, despite being small. Puzzle games are just perfect for it - and perfect for my brain. I'm just about up to the final battle in FF3 but my gang need to be levelled up a bit before they tackle that. And everyone knows how much I looove levelling up.
Well, that's all for now. Toodles, LJ.
