Last day of freedom

So, given a free choice would you a) go chocobo racing or b) face the super-meany monsters in the Omega Dungeon? Yeah, me too. Omega Dungeon all the way! OK, so after every battle I have to remember to switch my party round so that Auron, Tidus and Wakka are fighting first, and I use loads of Hi-potions to get everyone up to full strength again, but it's worth it. I'm only a super-meany Marlboro thing and a Master Tonberry short of a full set! Doncha just love FF-talk?

Still debating whether to ask my mum to get me FF12 for my birthday. The price is still pretty high, unless I go with e-bay. But that means juggling money around since mum doesn't have a pay-pal account and most sellers only use pay-pal, now. Still, birthday presents are supposed to be things you can't buy for yourself, right? I certainly wouldn't pay the shop prices (£28 - £35). But I'd feel guilty asking mum to pay even the lowest price. Urgh!

Also need to decide what to get hubby for his 40th at the end of the month. *puts on thinking cap*

Well, it's back to work, tomorrow. Which means an early night, tonight. *sigh*

Went to St Philemon's evening service, tonight. They have a music group, which is everything I hate about church music groups. I heard a joke once that was along the lines of Christian rock groups are all failed pop groups. This bunch confirmed it. The pair singing sang in whiney fake American accents and did things like miss the 't' off the end of 'not' running it into the next word instead - so 'not alone' became 'no'lone' which just sounds hideous. Then, out of 5 songs only 1 was a proper hymn, which was still accompanied by guitar. I don't dislike choruses or modern Christian songs, but they have their place. They should be used sparingly, in my opinion, so that they have more impact. To me, they are like cuppa soups v's a good solid meal - you can't live on cuppa soup, but sometimes it's just what you need.

Having said that, my hymn choice today was - dodgy. The hymns were fine, but my singing was woeful.

We had a visitor, today, whose ancestors may have put up some of the money to build our church, which was quite exciting. His great-grandmother used to make notes on Mr Stewart's sermons!

Something struck me, today. How do vicars cope with meeting new congregations, and getting used to their traditions? What if there's some small thing that you really detest (whiney music groups, for example), but everything else about the Parish is perfect? I really couldn't cope with a music group like St Philemon's every week...

Soemthing to think about...

ffx, evening service, ffxii, ordination
