So my “vacation” is under way. This led me to getting a much needed haircut! Oh, thank goodness, because I couldn’t take it anymore. It had been about a year and a half. While it wasn’t thinned enough, I’m happy with the cut. My old stylist seems to have fallen off the planet, so I went to someone new. I don’t know if I’ll go back to her, though.
Alex and I have been having some nice days together. We went to the IKEA store and I want it all. It’s quite an amazing store, what with floors with rooms put together, merchandise, and a cafeteria! We also went to a science museum where I saw a turtle escape its pond.
My van broke down. I needed a new fuel pump and the radiator needed to be flushed and new coolant added to it. It came to $674.04. I was not at all happy. That was the last mechanical age-related breakdown possible. Everything is new, barring the engine, so I should be set until I at least pay the car off, which should be in about 9 months or so. Hopefully.
I have all my classes set at FAU and PBCC: Drama for the Stage and Screen, Stage Management, and Elementary Spanish I. I do not plan on being in any shows this semester. I need a break and must focus on my school work and just working.
Working over the summer is very boring. For what I need to do, I don’t need to go into the office, since it’s just typing on a computer. But, I fear that if I don’t show my face, they won’t believe that I’m actually working and won’t believe the hours on my time sheet.
I’ve begun the daunting task of cleaning my room and closets. I’m a pack rat, I admit it. I now must conquer it. I will, damn it!
My birthday was on July 31st. Alex came over for dinner and dessert (kielbasa, onions and green beans roasted in balsamic dressing, spinach dip with pumpernickel bread, and chocolate dump cake) and we watched Friends, played actors and actresses, and Uno. I got a birthday phone call from my Uncle Clyde and Aunt Joan (and a card from them) and a lot of birthday wishes on Facebook.
My Grandpa and Florence sent me a card and a $50.00 check, Diana sent me a card and got me homemade bar soap and bath oil, Laura got me a card and an I Love Lucy music box, Alex got me a card, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, a 1911 edition of the complete works of William Shakespeare, and a reed diffuser kit, and my parents got me a card, a $30.00 Visa gift card for gasoline, a $10.00 gift card to PetSmart, and Wreck This Journal. Also, Alex took me out for a day of celebrating for the two of us for my birthday on August 1st. We went to some thrift stores and then his parents arranged for our meal to be on them at Carrabba’s! It was such a nice gift from them. It was a nice, mellow 24th birthday (gah, I’m 24!).
This Tuesday (through Thursday) Alex and I will be going to Daytona Beach! That’ll be our little vacation for the summer.
