I absolutely loved both movies but I totally loved 'O' but like no one has seen it!! Whenever I talk about it to people, they are like, what are you talking about!!!
I agree with you about 'O'. The only reason I knew about it was because I looked up Josh Hartnett's page on IMDB. But I think it's just a really good movie and JH is perfect. :)
I am such a huge Julia Stiles fan that's what brought me to "O" when it was originally out in theatres, and I really though Mikhi Phifer was great in this movie as well. It's really the first time I remember seeing him in anything.
I'm glad I never saw The Devil Wears Prada, 'cause from what you said, I probably would've hated it. And O... I didn't even know that movie existed! I love Julia Stiles and Mekhi Phifer, so I need to see if this movie is at any of my local theatres...
'O' is actually isn't in theatres. I think it came out in 2001 if I'm not mistaken. But you should definitely go and rent it at your local video store when you get the chance. I ♥ it.
The one thing about this movie that I think turned me off to it the most was the fact that throughout the whole flick, I was uncomfortable. This movie gives the message that clothing makes you who you are and what you wear matters. A size '6' is considered to be fat. Eating disorders are glamourized. What pisses me off about this is the fact that not only will the young girls/teenagers who go to see this because of Anne Hathaway (and you know they will) will take this to heart. Isn't there already enough pressure in our society to look like the people in magazines? Don't we have enough problems with anorexia and bulemia and everything else? Also, there's a scene where Nigel and Andy toast to Andy's success - in dropping from a size '6' to a size '4'. Yes, the whole plight of Andy is to be successful in her job, but are there any toasts to that? No

Exactly. I found it insulting that they made Anne Hathaway out to be fat. For crying out loud! Every time I think about it, I like the film more and more.
Well, I own the movie because of Julia Roberts but I love Stanley Tucci. He's just awesome on so many levels. Which reminds me, I should probably watch that movie again.
hehe yay! ^_^ You've seen A Midsummer Night's Dream, right? That's actually the first one I think of when I think of Stanley, since he played Puck, which is one of the best roles ever in the history of theater haha. And he was brilliant in it, too. Aww I love Stanley! XD It's proof he can do evil and funny.
Erm...-scratches head-. I quite liked the movie. The Devil Wears Prada, I mean. Then again, I am only a 13 year old, but that doesn't really have anything to do with it, now does it?
Surely after I watched the movie, it didn't make me want to be anorexic or whatnot just because my mum think's I'm a little on the heavy side. (I'm like, 5'2 and 105 pounds. That to me, is not fat, but healthy. Er ish.) A friend of mine who is going to 9th grade thinks that my mom says I'm fat because since I'm Asian, Asian people are usually petite. -Shrugs- And I guess I'm not petite or something?
I'm glad that you didn't feel the need to be anorexic, but that doesn't mean that other girls won't. The women in American society are constantly pressured to look a certain way and I think this movie is only adding to that. It might seem insignificant, but all the jokes about the disorders and what the characters consider to be "fat" will hit home with some people.
You are 5'2 and 105 pounds; they may not be the ideal height for women of your culture, but that's not bad for Americans. In fact, that's pretty good. But most girls aren't like that and they will feel bad. I am not even 5'0 and I weigh 128 pounds. No, I am not obese in any way, but I am chubby. I felt really insulted by the film.
Females in general tend to think that they're fat (even when they're far from it) and by watching this film, they'll only believe that that is how society thinks of them, too. And think about the women out there who really do have weight problems - imagine how this makes them feel
