Here I am at work, bored out of my mind. That's why I'm turning too good old livejournal to pass a little bit of the time away. I guess it's time for an update anyhow, right?
Canada/Vermont:
I forgot to check where I left off...um, I went to Canada and Vermont but I think I already mentioned that. I've tried the hookah I bought in Montreal...either the tobacco I bought is crap or I just suck at setting up hookahs. I've tried it twice, both times with people there watching, and no one seems to think I'm doing anything wrong. So why, then, does the good flavor only last for like 5 minutes and then it starts to taste burnt and hurt my throat? Friday (after my second attempt to figure out what I did wrong) we surrendered and went to the hookah place by my house. The only difference I saw was that their coals looked way hotter than mine (always burning red, not ashing as much) and their hookahs are bigger than mine. Maybe I bought the wrong coals? But I ran into Vera there and she said regular coals should've been fine. Eh, whatever, Nancy is going to see if she can figure it out when I meet her for Thai on Sunday.
Birthday:
Oh, my sister visited around my bday weekend. I really enjoyed her company...she's my wonderful sissy after all! Oh, I think I already mentioned that in my last post though. I had my friends celebration the weekend after my bday (Pooja, Jay, Jacob, Kamiel, Brian, and Nancy). I was getting a cold so I changed the celebration from dinner in Jersey and a lounge in the city to just dinner in Jersey. We went to Cheesecake Factory, grabbed some alcohol from a store and then finished up at my apartment (which was my first attempt at the hookah). Everyone said they had a good time, despite it being an average sort of night.
Vietnamese:
Friday I caught up with this kid, James, that I met at the corn maze and had Vietnamese for dinner. Cathy and Brian joined us. It was...interesting. I mean, I've had a few different asian cuisines, but I didn't care for what I had at that night. It was a kind of sampler platter, although really there was just shrimp (which I don't like), bbq beef (which I liked), and something in grape leaves (which I usually am ok with but this one had a fishy taste to it...blech!). I had some of their bubble tea though, which was good enough (but not like I's Cafe, yum). I'm supposed to come up with the next dinner adventure...hope I can make it an interesting one.
Bill Burr:
Saturday I went with Cecil to a taping of a new Bill Burr dvd that's going to be released. I scared myself cuz I made us late, but it worked out in the end cuz they were running late anyhow. I guess I calculated timing wrong. I thought if I got there at 6, and he said it takes 20 minutes to get to Jersey City, then another 10 minutes to park/get on the train...we'd be on our way to the city right at 6:30 and get to the theatre easily by 7. So I said we'd meet at 5:45 just in case. Well I didn't get there til right after 6, and then we decided to go to Hoboken instead, but by the time we got there, got parking, and walked to the station, it was already 7pm. But just like Cecil said, it didn't matter cuz they tell you to be there way earlier than you really need to be. We did kinda get like the last seats though. The reason I was late is that I hit a snag...literally...in my stockings I was wearing. It was way too obvious of a run and I thought I had time to quickly pick a new pair up but the line was slow. I should've known, wal mart's lines in my area are always slow. I was spoiled in Virginia with Super Wal-Mart. Anyhow, the show was good. All the same jokes as I'd heard a month before, but this time I didn't have a drunk lady distracting me with her heckling and going "woo-woo" to get the bartender's attention. My feet hurt so bad by the end of the night though...I need to give my company some words on their pathetic attempt at female Dr Scholls inserts. I don't think they take into account how heeled shoes need longer inserts.
Oh yeah, I get to leave here at 5:45...I forgot. Guess I'll eat dinner now and be on my way. Yay livejournal, you wasted a half hour for me and spared me from boredom yet again!
