Mijnheer Wilders, "Fitna" and the illusion of free speech.

The denial of free speech is seen by Chris Kitchen's interrogation by police as he tried to leave England. Compare and contrast to Geert Wilders provocative visit to the U.K. Wilders will not be welcomed with open arms (save by far right Islamophobes) and his entry (second time lucky) to England will reignite tensions. Non-assimulated Muslims corporeal_v001 October 16 2009, 10:45:22 UTC

I, to some degree, agree with your observation about non-assimulated Muslims. But this is a loose observation. Muslims come in various levels of assimulation. By that I mean, first generation, second generation, etc, out of thier native countries.

If you have watched movies like "the God Father", you will be able to visualise my point. The first generation of Italians lived in tight knit communities, so that they could get easy access to family, friends, common language, known foods etc etc.

Obviously, this is not limited to just Italians. The same is true of Jews, the Chinese and many other communities.

This is both good and bad. The negative aspect is that the natives feel there is a positive attempt at non-assimulation, in order to be stubborn. In reality, its for the lifestyle reasons given above.

But things tend to change with subsequent generations. Most of the young Muslims has started to integrate and also started becoming more secular. But then came Bush and Blair. These invasions have has a serious impact on the Muslims.

Many of the young Muslims tend to be more religious than their parents. This has an impact on the assimulation process. But thats ok because this is a good thing because they are practical. They accept all that is good about Britain and reject all that is bad about it. So there is better integration with the 2nd and 3rd generations and it should improve with time.

I noticed this with some other faith communities. Jews who came from the Ashkenazim tried to be "more English than the English". Their children/grandchildren rebelled and adopted very frumm lifestyles. Same with Irish Catholics in the 1950s and '60s. It is a tricky situation with Wilders, free speech (unpalatable) versus the right not to be racially attacked.

Its not a tricky situation, he has the right to speak, he has the right not to be attacked. Your argument about contributory negligence is the same that says the rapists victim is at fault by not being careful enough.

the way to deal with the bigots is to oppose them peacefully and openly and to help their moronic views up to public scrutiny and ridicule.

I also find it offensive in the extreme when politicians say I should nto hear someone speak - essentially they are saying we are all morons in this country and only them clever enough to know what is good for us.

At best most politicians are biased and mediocre. The likes of jackboot Smith don't have the intelligence to hold serous arguments with Wilders and defeat their argument, because smith and co perpetually talk in slogans and shallow, rehearsed speeches.

Defeating wilders or griffin in public debate requires taking the time to master the facts and being flexible enough in thought to respond to changing situations. It also means communicating with people who are not politicians and need to hear things in their own language. Very very few politicians can do this.

Nobody "asks" to be raped but if a woman goes home with a guy she just met, gets naked, has foreplay and then decides to get dressed to what measure has she "contributed" to her situation? Wouldn't it be wise if she didn't want sex not to get to that stage? I take your point. I formerly lived in a London slum. Heavy N.F support. There was (at least) one pub that West Indians dared not enter. Nobody asks to get glassed in the face but if a guy is determined to go to that pub?
Finally, I am in 2 minds about Griffin, he isn't the usual knuckle dragger and made fair points when he contacted me. To sum up Britain? It is where 4 eco-protesters were arrested & interrogated as terrorists. It is a de facto police state, and as we all know the police are corrupt, cowardly, mendacious, murdering racists.
