Poll
I was going to do a light hearted bit on Deed Polls and changing ones name but the events of the last few hours mean that particular blogge must be stalled. I shall be in England (specifically London) next week. How things have changed since my last time in March at the recall for the "Big Brother 11" auditions. We are witnessing a return to the early 1980s with confrontational policing and a disgruntled populace. Ball bearings under horses hooves worked thirty years ago so they should do now.
Perhaps all involved in the demonstrations should adopt a Traffic Lights approach as per the Continent? Green = no trouble, will disperse immediately on police orders. Amber = will use violence (direct action) as and when needed. Red = no quarter asked for nor any given.
It is a tense moment for those who are in the coalition, the Tories alone do not deserve the odium, Labour laid the foundations, a bloated third level sector with no access to grants as in my youth, the Liberals propped up the whole rotting edifice and Joe Public was supine. Now one hears that Riot Squad police are in the Mother of Parliaments, the winter weather lends itself to a "Dr Zhivago" moment.
Finally was it a mere month ago that we had the communal wankfest that Remembrance Day has become? Mawkish attempts to use Wootton Bassett as an excuse to conflate the current war with the fight against fascism? My late paternal Grandfather did not spend four years in the trenches so that plod could ride down teenagers holding placards. It is an obscenity that my cousin defeated nazism only so that little Hitlers in blue could dare to try and impose the rule of a morally bankrupt government on a too long suffering nation.
