How does one say "Shrewsbury"?

So, is it pronounced "Shrovesb'ry" or "Shrews-berry"? Yet another British class thing or a genuine issue? As to regional pronunciation, are we going to say "Laaandaaan"? I had trouble in t'no'th three weeks ago as I was going through Horsforth (Ronsspeak "Whores Fourth", not the local "Oz'fo". It still rankles that Peking is now Beijing (do those folks go to Munchen by way of Firenze?) Moving swiftly on what is happening to the comments section (once so lauded and heralded as the New way Forward?) Many of my (clean, polite) comments are zapped. Finally tomorrow I hope to attend the Mela. Northern Ireland's biggest ethnic festival (yes, like there are so many others) is in Botanic Park on my way to the gym. Babe turned up last night, quite distracting.
