I wasn't too up-front about it, but during the last week my sleep patterns went from a bad habit to a full-blown syndrome. I went from staying up until 3 am every night (which is bad enough) to 4 am, 5 am, even daybreak. It got to the point where I was skipping out on class at noon just to go to sleep, and then I wouldn't wake up until the evening. By the weekend it had mutated into some sort of horrible bisected schedule where I was getting half my sleep from past midnight to dawn, staying awake until noon, then sleeping another six hours during the day.
I pretty much wasted four entire days that I could have used for a lot of productive things. Thursday through Sunday I was so messed up that I was in bed until it got dark. I didn't miss much class, but I could have been out there looking for a job, practicing how to drive the stick-shift, or getting either of my rooms cleaned, all of which are becoming more and more urgent. I didn't even get to mail Frocto's package, and I feel bad about that too. It just worsened everything I'd already been putting off.
But that's all been taken care of finally. I was finally able to get regular sleep last night, thanks to the combined forces of 8 ounces of milk, a shot of chocolate liqueur, and a tablet of Benadryl. I feel great and actually alert. The worst part of the whole ordeal was that I'd been shambling around like a zombie when I was awake, and felt horribly tired even when I couldn't actually sleep anymore. Everything's so much better now.
So now that that's done with, school should be a breeze. I talked to my professor and he reassured me that the lab I missed will have little impact if I do well from here out. Things are really looking up.
