Neuschwanstein Castle

Fairy-tale looking German castle Neuschwanstein (Literally "New swan stone") is being widely recognized globally and currently represents one of the hottest tourist hotspots in Europe and Germany. It was built for Ludwig II and is located in the south of Bavaria, close to Fussen. It is not only the castle itself that attracts many people here, but also a fantastic landscape around.

01. This is a type of view one would frequently see while approaching the castle. This alpine looks make me feel blue and happy at the same time.

02. View from the mountain, where Neuschwanstein is located.

03. This small bridge is definitely the most popular photography spot here. I have been here twice - in summer and in winter, so in summer this poor bridge is so crowded that there is barely room to move. In that terms, winter seems to be more appealing season to come here.

04. The castle is not as old as you might think. Was build just in 1883, so I wouldn't call it medieval, cause it is not the one.

05. A nice mountain lake on the other side of the hill.

06. You are not allowed to take pictures inside, however, there is nothing really special except for the gorgeous view overlooking the valley.

09. The castle is extremely popular among Chinese tourists. Out of the total number of people I have met there, 70% were from China. For the moment I thought I was in Metzingen Hugo Boss outlet store, but, yeah, I wasn't. This photo, in turn, demonstrates the remaining 30%.

10. Hohenschwangau Castle located nearby is not as popular as its younger neighbour.

12. A distant view.

13. Is someone impressed?

The castle is often associated with Disney logo, which is fair due to its resemblance. In Disneyland in Paris one of the castles was built with obvious resemblance as well. The castle is beautiful with gorgeous valleyviews, however, one might feel that there is a lack of an authentic medieval spirit. If you have visited Hohenzollern Castle in Baden-Wurttemberg, you know what I mean.
