So yeah....
I had this great trip planned for the upcoming Labor Day weekend. I was going to take Rosie and Oskar and we were going to head down to the Delaware Water Gap for some camping and canoeing. The Delaware Water Gap is a mountain pass on the border of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, where the Delaware River traverses a large ridge of the Appalachian Mountains; and is ideal because its fairly close by.
Then along came Ernesto.
The current forecast is rain, with some rain, and some scattered rain showers with patchs of rain in the evening.
So I call up the campground where I made reservations and ask about their cancellation policy. Which they reply that I needed to call ten days before if I wanted to cancel; and there are no refunds.
So I am the type of guy that has no problem camping out in the rain, I have done crazier things...such as go camping in the third week of november.
But I got a girlfriend and a young boy with me, and I don't want this camping trip to be the one that they remember being cold, wet and miserable.
So it looks like we are staying home this weekend, and I will try hard not to think about the money I spent on a muddy patch of ground in the woods.
In other news, I have been pretty busy at Yale, work is starting to pick up with earnest in preparation of the upcoming school year.
