My opinion on making fun of Bush is that all public figures are perfectly legitimate targets for mocking if they do something stupid. Ted Stevens (former Senator, now charged with corruption) accidentally spawned an Internet meme with his "series of tubes" comment, and I think it's hilarious. I'm honestly trying to think of a time when a Democrat Senator said something as stupid as Stevens, but I can't. Probably because they're too afraid of ruffling feathers to actually speak up.

But the point is, he's a public figure, open to public ridicule. And I sincerely doubt that the reason other countries dislike us so much is because we're making fun of the President. Plus, a lot of people are so vocal about mocking him specifically to distance themselves from his policies and actions, to say "Not all Americans agree with the President." And I think that it's perfectly within our rights to do so. When the next President does something I disagree with (and I'm sure he will, no matter who it is), I'm going to say so because it's one of the freedoms explicitly spelled out in the Constitution that I can speak ill of the government. That's one of the motivators that caused the Revolutionary War, even.

But, no. Nobody really cares who celebrities vote for. They just like to hear themselves talk.

Well, I totally agree that it is within our God given rights to speak up and out against someone or something we don't agree with. I guess it just bugs me when these so-called "celebrities" do it, when all they are is jumping on some PR bandwagon and influencing an upcoming generation. I just see our society lacking in respect for one another. That's all, really.

As a society, we have no respect for anything any more, really. That's just a symptom of a larger problem.
