I don’t remember what I was dreaming about, but I remember waking up singing Santa Lucia. I do that a lot. But what I did not know was the feast of St Cecilia (St Lucia) is November 22. I need to do some research on the net to see if that is a regular occurrence or what. This is very cool… I hope she is not the saint of celibacy of something yucky like that.
St Cecilia’s Feast Day is 11/22. She is patron saint of blindness and music.
St Lucy’s Feast Day is 12/13. She is patron saint of blindness.
Saint Lucia is an island in Caribbean named for St Lucy of Syracuse. Their motto is “The Land, the People, the Light”
I have not found the connection between St Cecilia and Santa Lucia… St Lucy is part of it but they lived at different times and the connection between them is blindness.
St Lucy is known for giving presents at Christmas to children who left sandwiches for her and sugar, flour or salt for her donkey. And if the children saw her she would throw ashes into her eyes blinding them.
