beginning of summer update

Jun 06, 2005 00:03

I'm home. Shocking I know. Finals sucked but I'm really happy with my grades for this semester: B-, B+, A-, and three A's. My cumulative GPA is something like 3.33 I think. Not bad. Catherine came to keep me company for a couple days since Harrison moved out two days before I did. Oh, the dancing. I'm glad she got to see that.

Immediately upon arrival in Fairfax I continued my job hunt since the whores I applied to work for didn't return my calls. I think I ended up applying at almost 10 different places before I even got an interview. Lean job market this summer? Maybe I just scream unemployable slacker. Anyway, to make a long story short, I am now an employee of Tarjée, or as mere civilians refer to it, Target. Yippee. Actually, it pays really well so it's all good. I worked my first night on Thursday after our "orientation," but I get my first schedule tomorrow so I'll have to see what's in store for my coming weeks then.

Big news around the house is the ushering in of the modern age with the advent of DSL, complete with wireless access for my laptop. I've waited years for this. It finally happened. I'm happy.

Yesterday, Catherine took me to a country concert at FedEx Field with Uncle Kracker, Pat Green, Gretchen Wilson, Keith Urban, and of course the heartthrob Kenny Chesney. It was entertaining, especially when the redneck woman busted into a cover of Led Zeppelin's awesome "Black Dog" and when Mr. Chesney brought out the one and only Sammy Hagar of Van Halen fame. I realize those are two rock-related moments, and that is no coincidence. Although I would have to say the funniest part of the whole experience was watching Catherine run into my open car door and bounce off after calling Maggie and turning around to run to the house before we left. I hope the bruise isn't too bad (snicker).

***Later Correction***
The funniest aspect of the night was in fact the William Hung-influenced, moustached and short-shorted man-dancer with double fist-pumping and booty-shaking action two rows in front of us.

I should probably go to sleep somewhat soon so I can get up at a reasonable time tomorrow. But I probably won't.
