Broke but happy
derek and i got back from the wedding craziness in tampa a few days ago. we had a wonderful time, but there were moments of pure wedding insanity, like when the hairdresser refused to do the bride's makeup because one member of the bridal party couldn't find the shop and thus didn't show up for her appointment. also, another moment of such craziness occured during the rehesal dinner when Jackie got so drunk that she forgot where she put her car. so a bunch of us were wandering around Ybor city trying to find her car, whilest trying to calm down an increasingly hysterical Jackie. we never did find it that night, so we all piled in into justin's car and drove back to the hotel trying to calm down a blubbering Jackie. (derek had to pretty much carry her into the hotel and up to her room.) but insanity aside, the ceremony was amazing, and the reception even more so. i took tons of pictures, and derek gave a very heartfelt toast to the new couple. i also got to go to my first strip club, the Doll House in Tampa (go,i highly recommend it) where our group got a lot of attention, because derek and i were posing as the engaged couple, because the real engaged couple wouldn't come out. lapdance city. i also got a souvenir DH towel. fun.
and by far the neatest thing was that Derek caught the garter at the reception, and the bride's mother (who was a widow) caught the bouquet. so she came over and got me, and made a speech about how her late husband had given her the garter and she had passed it on to Mara. and now she wanted derek to put it on me so that it would bring the two of us luck. it was very sweet, though a bunch of people now think that derek and i are engaged. oh well. :)
so we're home now, trying to keep up with all of the laundry and pay all the bills, and my brother's wedding is next friday. oy vey. so i am only around for a bit until i must travel again to another wedding. i'm actually in this one, so it's time for my first stint as a bridesmaid. and for me to photograph another wedding. at this point i am so broke that i will work 4 film, if any one has any to donate. :)
