Yesterday was awesome!
We took Julia to Santa's brunch at the McNally Robinson Bookstore (check it out if you haven't-it's amazing!). The food was DELICIOUS. When Santa came, however, Julia was the first person he came to and she grabbed on to me as tightly as possible and shouted, "MOMMY!!!!!". It was kind of funny, especially because she had been saying "Go see Santa Caus," all week.
After that, my uncle came over and took us all out for dinner on The Kingsway at a restaurant called Merlot. I had an AMAZING confit of duck leg. I am still thinking about it and it must be 30 hours later now.
My friend Beth came to babysit (she came for the dinner too :-), so we could take my dad to see Stuart McLean's Vinyl Cafe Christmas at Convocation Hall. I love his stories and his musical guests are fantastic too. THis time it was Jill Barber and Matt Anderson. I knew Jill in summer school, because I used to hang out with her at recess, but Vu and I saw her at a restaurant a couple of years ago and I don't think she remembered me at all, though she is friends with some of my friends (and she DID compliment me on my acting after having seen me in a school play way back when). Oh well, she is a fabulous musician with a very unique voice. My parents and uncle all adored her too. Matt Anderson came out of nowhere for most people, but Vu and I were blown away by his guitar playing at Mariposa a couple of years ago. He didn't even play the guitar to his full abilities, but he got an ovation for every song he did. I think my dad was very pleased with his birthday gift. This was definitely better than being in the hospital after a heart attack on his last birthday (ok, so that one's not hard to beat!).
Julia, little monkey can get out of her crib no problem now. She is currently sleeping on a mattress on the floor. Unfortunately, she has now figured out how to open her door and usually wakes up around 3AM. I've been lying with her for an hour every night in her room, but she doesn't fall asleep until I bring her to our bed. I don't want to get in the habit of having her sleep with us. Any suggestions?
On another note, this cough that started last Sunday...well, I am STILL coughing. I saw my Dr. today though and she said it is allergies for sure since I'm healthy other than the cough and my chest sounds totally clear. She gave me an extra strength reactine, which is not yet working :-( If it's not Julia, it's the darn cough at night....
