Whoa. Liza show was intense. Honestly, I was never a huge fan of her music. I always loved STERILE CUCKOO and CABARET and of course her glam life and broken hips, but it wasn't until I saw her at one of the pier shows in Seattle a couple of years ago that i fell deeply in love with her actual songs. She is so amazing live. When the curtain went up and everyone erupted into thunderous applause and stomping did I felt like I was seeing royality. A true living legend. She commanded the stage and sounded amazing. She walks that fine line between campy and raw. She knows exactly what she is doing and does it to the hilt. The audience, as usual with the RiverRock crowds were a mix of young, old and gays and straights. She made a crack about the Britney Vancouver show where Britney left the stage for a full thirty minutes while smoke cleared. The audience LOVED it.
We found an open liquor store and got a bottle of juice and had drinks while listening to YAHOO radio, then hit the clubs. It is always so hard to go out dancing after a diva show. Divas take so much energy and strength from my soul, but somehow i was able to plow through. We danced and partied until about three in the morning. Now in the gloomy morning light, I am sad that Liza excitement is all over.
