God, that's a long ass name.
I must say that compared to the first musical, this is a huuuuuge leap forward. Not only do we have way more songs (15 compared to the paltry 6 in the first musical), the songs are definitely of higher quality. The Sebastian actor is able to sing in a range that is more suitable for the character (in the first musical, his debut song has him sing in a range that's waaaay too high for the character of Sebastian), and I have to say that generally, most of the actors can actually SING.
I also love how they're somehow able to mix techno and... classical? sounds together. Though, most of the techno only comes in when the Shinigami are around, probably because some of their weapons do not respresent the period (lawnmower, chainsaw).
Maybe I should say modern and classical sounds? I think one song that really displays this is:
Sen no Tamashii to Ochita Shinigami. It has elements of an orchestra and something like... pop? I suck at music genres :P. And if you lisen closely, you can hear record scratch sound effects admist the awesomeness, which I thought was a nice touch.
Also, the Viscount's song sounds a lot like Queen's "We Are the Champions" >_> It's kind of bizarre.
I think my faaaavorite song is the one right before the intermission:
Checkmate. There is a bit of fail near the middle of the song, where they're all trying to perform a "canon," where they're singing over each other and it's... just fail. BUT, when they stop trying to sing over each other, it's definitely better and plus, there are BAGPIPES (the sole reason why I chose this song over Black and White, which is just a shorter version of this song with just Ciel and Sebastian singing).
Another favorite is where they have a professional opera singer belt her out stuff and wow, it's really really good. However, I think it's one that you have to watch to really appreciate it. The dancers do something like a wind-up doll dance and it's really cool.
Finally, we have the credits music, which I swear is done with Vocaloid or something like it:
Nama Shitsuji no Theme. It's basically the Shinigami theme but with different lyrics.
And I muuuust say that the dancing is pretty awesome throughout the musical. But I did notice that the Shinigami dance (during their theme and in the end) is way heavily influenced by Michael Jackson. But it didn't dawn on me until I watched Sebastian do the crotch grab. Yes, my jaw dropped.
Anyway, if you like Kuroshitsuji, you won't be disappointed with this musical. I do feel that they underused Ciel (he only had like 2 songs and they were with Sebastian), but the kid is cute, especially in a dress >_>. And I swear he had like 5 costume changes. Poor kid!
GO WATCH IT.
