aye, i found a new ship
So I just got into the 15: Meisetsu Kougyou Koukou Rugby-bu manga recently. It started out as a one-shot(?) before it got serialized online and had a manga of its own. I usually don't bother with mangas these days, let alone one that is about sports(15 is about rugby). But the main character is just so effin' cute and bright(not intellectually) I can't help but to read more and proceed to love it.

When I read the part about trust, talented kicker, Hanazono(rugby's equivalent of Koushien), I had a feeling of déjà vu, like have I read this somewhere before? Oofuri came to mind. Haha, of course, here we have kicker and wing thing going on while Oofuri has the catcher and pitcher thing. In 15, the kicker is Akira Ujigawa while the wing is Yui Ebina. They are first and second year respectively.
Akira's backstory before moving to Meisetsu high school is a sad one. Whether or not if it's as sad and depressing as Mihashi's may depend on individual preferences. You don't get much of it from the oneshot but the first chapter or the manga delves into it more.
Then we have Yui, Akira's senior and the rugby club's captain. He is almost, personality-wise, a carbon copy of Abe. Almost. Other than that, he is your typical handsome, cool, calm and collected, aggressive(lol, idk how this works with the previous trait) and smart senpai. The girls all swooned when he is around. But he's not interested. That scene in the oneshot, lol.
The oneshot is riddled with BL undertones or maybe this series were targeted at the female demographic? Maybe it was just my overactive imagination but it's hard not to think of the BL when there's plenty of blushing and awkward(almost romantic) dialogues. Yui/Akira is my OTP in this series after I finished reading the oneshot. Seriously, it was as if Naruse Yoshiki, the mangaka, wanted to create another Abe/Mihashi, LOLJKJK.
The art style is pretty. Much prettier and detailed than Oofuri's, in fact. There isn't any rugby match in the oneshot though, only in the manga. EDIT: There's one in the second part of the oneshot. Lol, I must be sleepy or something.
So much Akira moe and cuteness! And it's not what you think it is.
And a bit of Yui tsundere-ness.
If this was any other person, I would have said, "Have you no shame?!"
