This photo of a Chunky candy bar pretty well sums me up.
* I'm short and squat, although admittedly a bit more round than square.
* I'm a natural brunette.
* I'm sweet and a little nutty.
* I'm 45 years old and have a wee bit of silver in my hair.
My name is Laura, although most folks who know me through LJ just call me "Ro." I've been married for nearly twenty years to my darling
knightaudit. I've been competing in
therealljidol since season 4, and enjoying every minute of it, even though I've never come close to winning. I'm pleased to report that I have 99 weeks of competition under my belt, hence my three "Agent 99" icons - two featuring the original Agent 99, and one of the new Anne Hathaway version, because, hello, Anne Hathaway:
,
, and
That covers the basics, but as an added bonus I prompted my Facebook friends for questions, and thought I'd answer a few of the fun ones over here!
DM asked: "If you could run your own theme park, what would its theme be?"
LM asked: "If you could live in any sci fi / fantasy universe, i.e. Star Trek, Firefly, Discworld, etc., which would it be and why?"
My main answer to both of these is the same: I'm a
huge fan of Anne McCaffrey's Pern series. I'd love to live on Pern, and I think a Pern theme park would be pretty awesome. Dragon and fire-lizard rides and attractions, Weyrs, Halls, and Holds to explore, bubbly pies to eat, Thread to fight, ballads to learn, etc. I think it would be fascinating!
KG asked: "How many pairs of socks do you own? What do you use socks for apart from the obvious?"
*Goes to count my socks*
I can't provide an exact number, but my closest estimate (since some are in the laundry basket) would be 40 pair. Yes, I do have a slight sock fetish. They are almost all of the peds variety, that just cover the foot and/or ankle. They are all different colors and designs - I have one set of Day of the Week socks; I have socks in a variety of solid colors; socks with stripes, polka dots, metallic threads, coffee cups, strawberries, cherries, cats, paw prints, Winnie the Pooh, etc. I have souvenir sock from places I've traveled, like Mount Rushmore as well as a set from the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. As far as other uses for socks, once they have been worn and are already dirty, they make great dust rags. They are also good when worn as a glove for getting loose fur off of a cat (I have four cats, by the way). Phew!
That's probably enough nattering by me for now - I look forward to seeing what this Exhibit A season of LJ Idol holds! Thanks for stopping by!
