Too many prayed for rain

Aug 02, 2006 16:59

We just had the storm of the century here in El Paso, believe it or not. The rain started Sunday morning and did not stop until yesterday around 6, I think. It rained really hard all day long from morning until about 2pm, then sprinkled after that. West El Paso, Canutillo, Sunland and parts of St. Teresa were flooded. Some buildings, parking lots and streets collapsed. There was video of people's houses full of water up to their hips. There were landslides and everything. Luckily nobody was hurt terribly. However, many people did lose many of their possesions including their vehicles, homes and furniture. It took me a half hour to get home from somewhere that would normally only take me 10 mins. The freeway was flooded also, so they closed that down. It was a mess.
