I just...
there are no words for this. CHILDREN ARE NOT BAD!!!!!!!
They are active, they need guidance, but my goddess, they are LEARNING how to behave. They can't learn that if they aren't shown. Children learn by example.
And someone who is depressed???????
They need help, not a fucking boot camp.
...
*feels sick*
Taken from
the ISAC website: Angellika Arndt was just 7 years old when she died at Rice Lake Day Treatment Center in Wisconsin.
In just one month, staff members at the facility had restrained Angellika at least 9 times.
On the day she died, Angellika was placed in a face-down "control hold" for blowing bubbles with her milk.
The coroner ruled her death a homicide.
(emphasis mine)
.... 7 years old.
What the hell is a seven year old doing in a "Boot camp"?
And so many of these places are in states where... "bad kids" face stronger punishments for minor things. To try to break them sooner. Hell I wouldn't be surprised to find out that there's a place like this in Alabama or South Carolina....

There's a 161 of you who may or may not be paying attention to what I'm saying. Maybe you're not because I've been going on and on about happy news. (And the happy news will come back, to be sure.) But this is important.
to quote:
The biggest reason that these facilities get away with what they do-- and I will tell you right now that there are hundreds of children in America suffering in them as you read this-- is because nobody hears about them. It sounds entirely sensational when survivors come forward to tell their stories. Many get called liars, especially when/if the facilities get wind of stories being told. Likely, if you tell the nearest person on the street, they won't believe you. I, for one, would love to change that someday.
shoiryu experienced this hell after she had graduated high school. After she had already gone to college. She turned 18 in the place and was still treated like shit. Imagine what an experience like that could do to a young child. Maybe one of
y'all's kids.
There is no such thing as a bad child. It took me a while to figure that out. But a child is the product of the environment that they are in. If some one tells a child that they are special and loved, then that child will grow up to believe that they can do anything. If you tell a child that they are worthless and nothing, then that's what they will believe.
I want you guys to do me a favor.
I want you to pass this along.
People need to know about these places.
Knowledge is Power.
And with Knowledge, Power, and LOVE we can make a difference.
